{90-Minute} Brown Butter Cinnamon Rolls
Ah, the classic cinnamon roll. Perhaps the preferred breakfast of nearly every member of my family… with the sole exception of myself. Yes, I suppose I do enjoy an occasional cinnamon-inspired morning treat. Honestly, though, I am partial to rich, mouthwatering, chocolate-based sweets – cinnamon is simply not my spice of choice. This is not about me at all, however. Allow me to explain…
It begins with a birthday. A ninth birthday. My younger brother Jack’s ninth birthday, to be precise. He requested a grocery store cake… {Hmmm…}, as opposed to one of my homemade creations. Unsure of what to present him with on his special day, if not a cake, I scribbled down several of his absolute favorite recipes, baked by myself in the past. Brainstorming at its finest! Β The first to come to mind – cinnamon rolls! A perfect surprise. I then realized I was facing a troublesome complication. Cinnamon rolls, at least those I have previously made, often require hours upon hours of rising time. In order to completely prepare them prior to his celebration, my cinnamon rolls would have to rise in record time. I frantically began searching for a quick, efficient method. I suppose I could have settled for those of the biscuit variety, but was certain they would not satisfy Jack as the traditional, yeast roll would. And then… I stumbled across an ideal recipe on a favorite blog of mine – The Baker Chick. They seemed wonderful; incredibly delicious. And so, I gave the – 90 Minute! – recipe a whirl…
The result: Oh-so-delectable, palatable, buttery… Just scrumptious.Β
While they cooled, I tossed together an effortless cinnamon icing. Though this cream cheese icing was initially what I had in mind, I forgot to soften the butter and cream cheese. The cinnamon alternative pleased everyone – it enhanced the spice’s present flavor in the rolls.
So, if you happen to be craving an ooey-gooey cinnamon roll, search no further for an uncomplicated, speedy recipe. This one is utterly flawless.
Enjoy!
