Classic Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

{Classic} Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Though I long debated as to whether or not such a recipe was worthy of a post, I ultimately decided to share it, despite the cookie’s utter simplicity. After all… Oatmeal Raisin, classic, at that. Certainly we all have a preferred baking method, or family gem of a recipe for such a traditional treat. And I must admit, I was rather dissatisfied with the above photograph, initially regarding it as undeserving of a feature. My shots are not yet perfect, however, a mere result of lack of experience, and so… the photo and cookie are to be presented to you today {picture above, recipe below}. Enough {semi} nonsensical rambling… shall we discuss cookies now? I think yes.

I may personally be partial to those of the chocolate-chip variety, but oatmeal cookies possess such a rustic, chewy charm I often find difficult to resist. Oatmeal has long been a delightful, delicious obsession of mine; I devour bowls upon bowls each week, generally instant packets for convenience, though I have archived several scrumptious homemade alternatives right here. Upon deciding, on a sudden whim, to bake cookies several weeks ago, I began considering my numerous options. Sugar, peanut butter, M&M, perhaps something unique or unusual… Β After scavenging through my bins of baking supplies, I realized how few ingredients I had on hand. Disappointed, I settled for oatmeal raisin. The final result – not disappointing in the slightest.

This is. The Perfect. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. {Unless of course, you tend to opt for thick and chewy, in which case I recommend Smitten Kitchen’s recipe}. Seriously. Sweet, buttery, a pleasant hint of cinnamon, and as for the raisins… Yum. I cannot praise these enough.

Now, let’s briefly chat. I apologize for my absence these past few weeks – I’ve been incredibly busy! The fact that mid-April is currently upon us is quite difficult for me to fathom. Freshman year has nearly come to an end, an abrupt end, to be sure. Finals are once again approaching and then – Summer! Crazy, isn’t it? My posts may be somewhat sporadic until -perhaps – early/mid June, as school and studying are priority at the moment. I’m eager for July to commence – warm weather, homemade ice cream, much opportunity to practice photography… It’ll be such fun!

Okay, okay. Back to cookies.

Bake a batch. Oats. Raisins. Butter…. What could possibly go wrong?
