Pumpkin Spice Pancakes

Pumpkin Spice Pancakes

Life has been rather uneventful as of late, though not necessarily in a negative sense. The monotony of school routine is quite tedious at times, but there is much to be said for the comforting order it possesses. I must admit, however, that I long for adventure, for travel, for the time to relax in an armchair with a riveting novel and pursue my interest in photography… without having to choose between the two, as I often must. Yes, I suppose there are numerous benefits to my hectic schedule, but at the moment I simply want to set aside my student planner and enjoy a cup of piping hot tea, the fire currently roaring in our fireplace, and a good book.

Yesterday afternoon, rather than beginning homework immediately upon arriving home, I briefly visited a lovely little antique shop with my mother. I adore such places. Smiling softly to myself, I calmly strolled through each aisle, stroking floral tablecloths and vintage dresses, imagining where these treasures originated, wondering why they were abandoned. And how they ended up where they are today. Mysteries are inspiring. Ancient, dull silverware is inspiring. And so is pumpkin throughout the season of autumn…

Ah, pumpkin. I despise its vibrant orange hue, but delight in the month it represents – October. Fortunately, when combined with a variety of traditional baking ingredients it’s color softens to an appealing, subtle orange. It is wonderful. And it makes for incredible pancakes.

The first quarter of tenth grade has drawn to a close. I am now the proud owner of a motley collection of rustic spoons and forks. Oh, and these pumpkin spice pancakes were prepared this very morn… a perfect tribute to fall. The aroma of allspice, of cinnamon, of ground ginger — Just divine.

I intend to celebrate autumn fully this year. This ‘celebration’, of sorts, consists primarily of Bath & Body Works candles {I purchased this one not long ago}, the aforementioned tea, and pumpkin anything and everything.

Pancakes are surely the ideal start.
