Pumpkin Spice Baked Doughnuts
Oh, Sunday. Such a calm, tranquil day of rest. I so appreciate the serene, quiet atmosphere – it’s utterly perfect, particularly during the fall. The fall…
This very afternoon feels like autumn. Yes, the season commenced several weeks ago, and yet… not until today did the weather significantly cool. Not until today was my new Harvest Coffee scented candle lit. Not until today did I completely, wholly welcome fall into my fifteenth year of life. It is wonderful, in all respects.
Perhaps autumn took its time settling in for several reasons, the first being my home’s lack of deciduous trees — these currentΒ beach photographs are certainly proof of that. A second cause? I only recently acquired pumpkin spice candles and hand soap. They signify autumn’s arrival within my home. And finally, until the doughnuts of this very post were baked, I had prepared pumpkin treats merely twice since the beginning of fall. I can now assure you… the lack-of-pumpkin issue has definitely been remedied.
Upon deciding to whip up a simple pumpkin sweet, muffins immediately came to mind. They are, without a doubt, my absolute favorite good to bake. While reaching for the appropriate pan, however, my eyes strayed to the – slightly dusty – doughnut pan resting nearby. An instant change of plans. Thirty minutes and a generous sprinkling of turbinado sugar later…
The pumpkin spice baked doughnut was born.
They are positively divine. Heavenly. Though entirely optional, the additional scattering of raw sugar is highly recommended.
Ah, and so… I leave you with the recipe. Enjoy Sunday. Take advantage of its glorious, relaxing simplicity.
Bake doughnuts.
