tuesday tea & poetry

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Shall we begin with a lovely little poem?

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

–ย Emily Dickinson (1830-86)

The poem I chose to share above is an absolute favorite of mine. I have always been enchanted by the work of Emily Dickinson; it is simply magical, truthful, splendid.

Now, what accompanies poetry better than a piping hot mug of… tea! The ‘recipe’, of sorts, below is my mother’s preferred beverage for a chilly winter day. I prepare it for her often, typically before our daily morning walk.

If you are not currently in the habit of drinking tea, why not give this a try? I think you might just love it.
