an utterly simple orange soup (smoothie bowl)
Quite some time has passed since I last shared an ‘utterly simple’ recipe on Lace & Lilacs… and, oh, I am so pleased to present you with a new, entirely effortless sweet treat today.
Before beginning my orange-smoothie rambles, however, I would like to take a brief moment to discuss… ALOHA! Simply because the folks behind this brand are all kinds of awesome.
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to Aloha and inspired to ‘bring a dish to pass’ by preparing a wholesome, nutritious recipe for my blog. I, of course, agreed. After all, they’re a thoroughly lovely company, and ooh, have you seen their terrific products and these healthy recipes? Love!
Now, where was I? My ‘dish to pass’? An utterly simple orange soup/smoothie bowl? I think so.
I suppose a great deal of you may be just slightly confused by the title of this (yummy) breakfast, and, ah, you ought to be. After all… is it soup? A smoothie? A smoothie you eat with a spoon, as if it’s soup?
Yes, yes indeed.
A thick, spoonable, chilled smoothie-of-a-soup. Featuring an orange, orange juice, milk, greek yogurt, a drop of fresh lemon juice, and just a touch of the natural sweetener of your choice. A dash of protein powder is encouraged, if desired.
So… Shall we move on to the recipe?

I always supplement my breakfast with protein powder so I love this bowl! The perfect way to start the day :).
Thanks so much, Laura! 🙂
Sounds delicious!! I love adding protein powder to my smoothies, and serving this in a bowl is so fun, and perfect for adding a bit of fruit of granola. Yum!
Thanks, Rachel! Adding granola to this is such a great idea… I’ll have to try that 🙂
oooooooh I’ve never heard of a soup/smoothie bowl but I love it! Orange is so perfect for breakfast too-mmmm
Thanks, Kayle! Smoothie bowls are so great with fruit or granola mixed in… and orange is the best!! 🙂
