♥ lovely little apartment things ♥
This morn I though I’d address affordable apartment decorating. I am, of course, far from an expert on the subject, as I’ve yet to even move into my first-ever flat… But my search for inexpensive decor has long since begun. Below we’ll be discussing where to find excellent bargains… Shall we start? I think so!
First of all, the aesthetic I’ve aimed for is a subtle blend of shabby chic, vintage, & minimalist. When I move into my place (if I have the time, that is) I’ll photograph & post about the space… until then, I purchased what I have decided upon so far from the sources below.
The first website I hit up was Overstock.com, of course! My parents gave me a total budget of $300.00, which was tremendously generous of them.
Laura Ashley Arundel Cotton 3-piece Quilt Set ($68.98) It was love at first sight for this quilt set and I. I intend to decorate my teeny tiny Parisian bedroom around it.
Garden Flowers 3-piece Curtain Tier and Valance Set ($29.99) I just could not resist this adorable curtain tier & valance set. I’m thinking it would be absolutely perfect for either my bedroom or the shared kitchen… we shall see.
Giverny Fabric Plisse Shower Curtain Set ($25.49) And the floral obsession continues… this shower curtain is the cutest.
Total Spent At Overstock: $124.46
Gilt is an ideal source for wall decals, in my opinion. A vast majority of online shops that sell removable decals tend to mainly stock gaudy, tacky designs. Not Gilt, though! (Note: Lucy-Claire says Etsy has some lovely wall decals, as well.) This is what I purchased:
Ballet Class Wall Decal ($39.00) Okay, so I totally splurged on this one. But can you blame me? This decal is precious, and will serve as a lovely addition to my bedroom.
Treehouse Wall Kit Removable Wall Decals ($24.00) I’ll most likely be placing this wall decal behind my bed, in lieu of a proper headboard. Isn’t it cute?
Total Spent At Gilt: $63.00
Ah, Etsy. How I love thee… (& also hate thee, because thee keeps taking all my money.)
Sweet Shabby Chic Fabric Banners, Bunting, Garland, Wedding Bunting, Pennants, Flags, Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue – 3 yards ($29.00) This bunting was the first piece of unessential (yet completely necessary) decor I bought. It’ll certainly brighten up our place, don’t you think?
Shabby Chic Fabric Banners, Bunting, Garland, Wedding Bunting, Flags – 5 ft ($16.00) Because there is no such thing as ‘too much bunting’.
Decorative Throw Pillow Cover; Floral Pillow Case ($15.64 x 2) Pretty-pretty covers for the throw pillows in my room.
Dried Flower Bouquet ($12.00 x 2) Though I adore fresh flowers, they’re far too pricy to splurge on each week. These dried bouquets will last all year!
Total Spent on Etsy: $100.28
Total Amount Spent: $287.74
Not bad at all, yes? Me thinks my parents will be very pleased with my budgeting. 🙂
Sounds as if you already have chosen the apartment. Since otherwise, you’d not know there is a shared kitchen.
Can’t wait to “follow along” with you, on this lovely journey.
Even if you don’t have time for lots of blogging, on the apartment, there is always Instagram. The perfect place for “just-pics” I think. 🙂
Oh, yes, Instagram is so wonderful for little moments!
And we have selected an apartment! Thank goodness; it was such a hassle I thought we’d never find one. 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind comment, Tessa. I hope you have a lovely day!
I love Decals! That Ballerina one is especially cute!
Yes! Etsy is great for decals, and they usually ship really quickly too!
Hahah, I drafted this post a couple months ago when we were chatting about wall decals. 🙂
And I love the ballerina one so much! It was pricy, but I have a feeling I won’t regret it. Good to know Etsy usually ships quickly… I’ll be checking theirs out in the future!
so many gorgeous finds!
Thanks, Kayle! I kinda love them. 😀 xo
I cannot wait to see your apartment, I do hope you’ll post pictures! 🙂
I hope I do, too! If the lighting is good, and I have the time…. 🙂
