Au Revoir

au revoir | lace & lilacs

Hi-Hi, Lovelies!

As you read these very words, I am most likely aboard a plane to Paris. Oh my.

Now, ‘au revoir’ does not truly apply to Lace & Lilacs, of course. Rather, my goodbyes are meant for the following wonderful, wonderful people.

To My Dad. I cannot thank you enough for your unconditional love and support over these past seventeen (nearly eighteen… how even?) years. Each and every travel opportunity you provided for us was an utterly unforgettable experience, from the first trip to London (ah, that is long forgotten, actually, since I was, like, one), to our last (but far from final) European expedition this past autumn. I’ll see you quite soon, and am very pleased to have somehow convinced you to join Facebook and set up a Skype account. Feeling so accomplished at the moment. 😉

To My Mom. I’ll be passing over your goodbye today, as you’ll be accompanying me on this thrilling journey. But you know I love you. ♥

To My Brothers. Jake, sometimes you’re a teensy bit mean. That’s okay. Just… grow out of it, pretty please? Jack. You have the biggest heart. You are so empathetic and caring and sensitive and strong. Promise me you will never lose these remarkable qualities.

To My Grandparents. My lovely grandmothers, in particular. You mean the world to me, and I sincerely thank you for the tremendous wisdom you gifted me with throughout my childhood.

To My Friends. I couldn’t have asked for more compassionate, delightful people to share classes, mall outings, and trips to our local movie theatre with. If any of you happen to have come across this post… well, just know that you’re the best-est, and I heart you. Ooh, and if I’ve yet to take your photograph, know I’ll be back next summer and totally intend to shoot you (with a camera, of course) then.

To My Babies. Aka, my sweet little shih-tzus Toby and Mabel. I love you both to the moon and back. Toby (who we often affectionately refer to as ‘Bubsy’), you’ve been my best friend since I was eleven and you were a wee little puppy. Someday we’ll live together again. I’m certain of it, cutie. Please don’t miss me too much.

To All the Adults Who Helped Shaped The ‘Me’ of Today. Many, many thanks. I do not know where I would be, had I not had you.

But these goodbyes are not for forever. I’ll see you all soon… whether it be via online video chat tomorrow, or in ten months when I set foot on sunny SoCal soil once again. I love you guys.

To My Readers. You’ll still be hearing from me… often, I hope! Thank you for your continued, genuine support. xoxo!

As for My Outfit…

My lovely mother captured this quick shot of me in our favorite antique shop this past week. Oh, or was it the week before that? I’ve begun to lose track of time. Anyways! Here are the details:

Black Turtleneck

Macy’s

Soft Pink Skirt

 Forever 21

Silhouette Flats

Modcloth

 Necklace

 I don’t quite remember!

  1. Bon voyage!

À la rentrée ! Which comes for you, a bit earlier, than most of the Parisians. You will be all settled, and ready, when they come straggling back into town. :-)))))

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa

    • Oh, thank you so much, Tessa! And hahah, indeed! Though Montmartre was so very crowded today; I was a bit surprised, having never visited Paris in the summer before. It wasn’t quite what I expected. 😉 xx

  2. Hi Abby!
I’m so excited for you and your big move. I mean, you’re moving to Paris!!! Which sounds like a dream. You little letters to your parents, brother, and dog were so sweet and endearing.
I really hope you have the best time, the best adventure, and I can’t wait to read about them!

    Love, M.

  4. Happy trails! It is such a delight to see someone’s dream come true. I wish you all the very best, and can’t wait to read your next post about how you have settled in and are blissfully happy.

Also, I love your gorgeous outfit. And envy very much your luxurious, shiny black hair.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, Sarah! This is a dream of mine, and I think I’ve always been one to after what I want, but what if what I want isn’t *really* what I want? Did that even make sense… ah, well. Self-doubt is just apart of the experience, I think.
And ohhh, my hair. 😉 I recently went a shade darker than my natural color to hide the golden highlights I gave a go over a year ago. I’m loving the color so far! xo

    • Oh, thank you so much, Laura! It certainly sounds like a dream, but the details are such headaches! Fortunately, at the end of the day, it’ll be just me, and Paris, and art. 🙂 xoxo

    • I can’t believe it’s ACTUALLY happening… what. even. These past 24 hours have been such a blur… isn’t it incredible how you jump halfway across the freaking WORLD in about twelve hours (+ additional travel time, of course 😉 ).

      XO! And THANK YOU!
