A Day in Dublin, Ireland

Following our brief ‘lil Harry Potter-inspired stay in London, my father and I hopped over to Dublin for one full day of exploring the lovely Irish city. My father, though extremely well-traveled, had somehow never visited Ireland in the past and had heard endless praises of the country’s capitol. As we were relatively nearby and had a couple of days to spare, he booked us tickets to this fascinating city. And I, for one, was thrilled to discover a new land and culture.

On Ashlae’s recommendation, we decided to stay at the Waterloo House in central Dublin. The location could not have been more ideal, and the accommodations and service were equally spectacular.

With just one complete day to traverse about, dad and I opted to stay within the city rather than venture out to the Cliffs of Moher or Glendalough. I personally did not fall head-over-heels for Dublin’s rather stark, block-like architecture or the utterly freezing weather (we were there the first of July and it rained ceaselessly. I was essentially forced to purchase a sweatshirt, a scarf, gloves, and a warm, winter hat. And was still ice-cold.), but the city’s people are some of the kindest, most welcoming in the world. I adored them – their accents, their mannerisms, their culture.

And what did we do, you ask? I’ll tell you!

Dublin Castle (the gift shop being where I acquired the aforementioned winter-wear). Guinness Storehouse (I personally do not drink, and Guinness isn’t a favorite beer of my father’s, but when in Ireland, right?). St. Stephen’s Green (so, so pretty). St. Patrick’s Cathedral (yes, yes it is just stunning). Trinity College (the environment is too special… imagine attending university here.).

‘Tis all! One day was not enough. Ooh, and I hope you enjoy the photographs above. While they aren’t my very-best work, I believe they certainly captured the essence of Dublin. At least what I saw of the city, anyways. 😉
