Retro-Inspired Portraits of Kaitlyn & Alyssa

Hi-Hi, Friends!

Today I’d like to introduce to you to a new ‘lil project I’ve been working on, entitled ‘Dollhouse’. While I’ve yet to finalize all the details for this series of images, at the moment I’ll define it as portraits and fashion editorial-inspired imagery (with a retro vibe) of friends of mine whom I’ve dressed up and styled as if they’re life-size ‘dolls’. This project is in no way intended to objectify women… rather, it challenges the notion that dolls (and real women) must possess certain physical attribues in order to have value, or worth. In the case of a Barbie, this ‘value’ manifests itself as a literal price tag, for women subject to the superficiality of our society, however, it isn’t nearly as conspicuous as this.

Anyways… I’m not entirety certain as to how ‘Dollhouse’ will evolve, or if it will at all. I have decided to withdraw from the course I originally intended to develop this project for, in order to have a bit more time for myself this semester, so it may or may not be taken further. Regardless, it could be a trial of sorts for a future body of work.

‘Tis all for this afternoon… I’ll be back soon!

un nouvel projet !

Bonjour mes amis !

It’s important to take time for yourself! I dropped out of some clubs this semester for the same reason. And two months into the semester, I’m completely happy about my decision! I’ve been able to make more time for people I care about, and also make more time to take photos. It’s good that you got a chance to develop an idea for a project while you were still taking the course 🙂 Love that picture on the bottom left! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
