the beginnings of a new personal project

Tentatively titled, “we don’t know what the fuck we’re doing but that’s okay”.

This series, which I’ll be working on over the course of the 2017/2018 academic year is inspired, above all, by youth. By the stage my friends and I are at at this point in our lives… attending uni, learning how to ‘adult’ , how to form healthy, lasting relationships and set proper boundaries, discovering our passions and exploring potential career paths… in short, there’s quite a bit (and when I say ‘quite a bit’, I mean ‘a hella lot’) of uncertainty and so… we take it one day at a time. Because it’s all we can do, right? Right. (Also, I’d like to make it very clear that I myself do not smoke or drink, but the vast majority of my friends do and you know what? So what? Your life, your body, you do you/whatever the fuck you WANT. I’ll be tucking myself into bed before 10pm, though, thanks.)

These are spontaneous portraits. Intimate, sincere moments. Real life.

All captured on 35mm film.

I intend to share 99% of the pictures I take for this project on the blog in order to document them, but the final series will most likely be comprised of only 15 or 20 of the very-very best.

I’m so eager to continue creating! Can’t wait to share more…

Abby

  1. ahhh yes, the quintessential uni experience! I love how you’re capturing it-it’s very real and honest and yet super cool? But seriously FRENCH PEOPLE STOP SMOKING lol

    • Thanks so, so much, Kayle! I’ve never done a project like this before, so it’s so nice to hear positive feedback. 🙂 And girrrrl, I know! Convincing them to quit, though? Impossible, at least in France!

  2. J’aime tes photos! Fier de toi!

  3. I love how candid all these photos are! You’ve definitely captured youth! Ahh so uni. Tons of small, important memories 🙂 Also loving the Christmas Spongebob pants. And the bottles and flowers 🙂 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

  4. I loved scrolling through these photos. They’re so youthful and really reminded me of the kind of blurry, messy energy my friends and I had during university – so it was quite lovely to scroll down to your writing and see how much it chimed with what I had been thinking. I hope you enjoy the rest of the paragraph – I look forward to seeing it!
